Spend a day or afternoon doing creative activities at the children's home to brighten their day!
The government hasn’t been able to assure basic child rights and basic education nor has invested in social sector like child welfare, education and health. This lack of support has caused more than 26 millions cases of child labor in Nepal. Children's homes fully rest on donations. Most children can only go to school by sponsoring. Staff of children's homes are busy keeping the home running and do not have enough time to spend with the kids or the money to hire more staff.
As a volunteer you will teach the children how to entertain themselves. Be creative! Teach them to dance, sing, draw or anything you can think of. Most children are very shy and insecure and enjoy the extra attention you can give them.
The focus will be on creative activities, sharing hygiene rules , help with homework, to love them and to have fun. Creative development is important for their self-confidence, solidarity with the other children and to have an outlet. Plus your art will brighten the walls of the children's home.
Nepali children have a different way of showing affection and emotions.
They might be very happy but it will not been shown.
When you hand over gifts, the children will not use it right away or unwrap the gifts.
This is because in their culture, it is rude to unwrap gifts in front of anyone.
So please know that the children will love everything but show it differently!
Transport to your placement and food/drinks will be of your own cost.
The materials for your creative activities will be of our cost.
Of course donations for the materials are apprectiated!
